My first graded presentation
Here is my first graded presentation in
English course. Even though, I have already gave several presentations in
different courses, this time could be much more challenge to me. Because, this
presentation is focused on the skill and the language you used during the
presentation. Therefore, we started to prepare our pair presentation very
early.
However, the outcome, I think, is not satisfying
for me. I know, our language skill could not be improved just in one day. Mr. Doherty
thought our presentation was not so businesslike and the language we used
seemed to be less academic, compared with others.
Here is what I still need to improve in my
presentation:
- Vocabulary
- Advanced sentence structure
- Language sense
- Pronunciation
Aiming at these purposes, my action is
following:
- Watching more famous presentation, such as TED.
- Continue learning academic word lists
- Listening to BBC more often
Hope I get a great progress in the future.

Final memo report: Leatty Shanghai
Introduction
Since our company became the Leatty Shanghai’s contractor, the whole project team was committed to complete the task perfectly. Nevertheless, there was a multiple delays in the project, which leaded to the exceed expense and overloaded budget. Therefore, the representatives of boards had a meeting with the Leatty Shanghai’s developer from Canada and architects company from Germany to design a plan to solve the delay problem.
Information coordination
In order to improve present multinational communication situation, a co-ordinate agency, formed by some staff from the contractor, the developer and the architect, will be established in Shanghai, mainly preventing any information misunderstanding and delay from the project. Furthermore, the agency is obliged to hand in a report monthly, helping the boards keep informed of the schedule and any problems could delay the whole project. Additionally, a weekly newsletter will be sent to every manager and engineer involved by the agency, through which co-ordinate agency plays a role as stable mediator to exchange information officially in the company.
Communication
E-mail is regarded as the only official way to communicate with the Canadian developer and Germany architect company, except for meeting. Also, there will be more face-to-face meetings with our international partners in the future, at least every two month in Germany. Specifically, the representative of the co-ordinate agency is responsible to arrange the whole conference at that time, and present the progress to all the attendees.
Work principle
Since the ambiguous work principle always resulted in some inconvenience during the work, a formal work principle hand book draft should be handed in by co-ordinate agency before next face-to face meeting in Germany. This hand book involves all the departments involved in this project. After being permitted by all the boards and our international partners, the hand book will be distributed to every staff.
Rewarding system
A new rewarding system will be carried out at the end of this month to accelerate the present project schedule. In the new rewarding system, all the staff will be divided into several teams and at the beginning of every month, different goal will be assigned to teams. Team could get extra salary bonus, only if they accomplish the goal successfully.
Safe
The safety problem should not be ignored at the same time, even though catching up with the schedule is the priority right now. All the boards guaranteed that every worker only had to work 40 hours per week, and at least one day off per six days. Furthermore, it is forbidden to work from 12 to 2 o’clock in the afternoon during the summer (from 15th June to 15th September).
Conclusion
Even if the Letty Shanghai project had a difficulty in keeping pace with the schedule, fortunately our internal experts have discovered the problems and a series of solutions will be implemented recently. Otherwise, some employees will be admitted as a member of coordinate agency, coping with communication problems in the project. We strongly believe that we will achieve a significant progress with these solutions before next meeting.

My first real Christmas
I know so many western people feel curious about whether Chinese people celebrate Christmas. Actually, compared with western society, most of Chinese people regard it as a combination of national shopping and valentine's day. At Christmas's Eve, every shopping in China will have lots of inviting discount. Celebrating Christmas is popular among young people, because they could go out and have fun with their peers, instead of keeping company with parents in our spring festival.
Usually, we will go shopping with our friends and then have a grant feast. After that, KTV is the most important event in the whole night.
The following picture shows how it looks in my hometown at Christmas's Eve. Be careful with crows. Sometimes, staying at home, I think, could be a very wise decision.hahaha....
Since this was my first Christmas in Europe,I had a chance to experience a real Christmas finally. I participated a international cafe for all the international students in Groningen.
Happy New Year! My first winter in Groningen.
How time flies! Today is the
first day of 2011. It seems that I just arrived in Groningen yesterday, but I have
been lived at here for 3 months actually. In these three months, I met with a
lot new friends, not only from China, but all over the world. Choosing studying
in Rug could be one of my most intelligent decisions in 2011, I think. Before
studying abroad, I felt pretty satisfied with what I obtained at that time, 3.4
in GPA, the aboard member of university radio station and the trainee in one of
our province broadcasting station. However, these progresses became the obstacles
on my way to develop myself. In China, we have an famous idiom called 生于忧患死于安乐,
which means that extra satisfaction towards your life make you lack of fighting
will to your future. Hence, I chose to go abroad to experience totally
different life and have a look about what is the real western advanced
education.
Taking the whole English program could be a
challenge for me; even I thought my English was not too bad. However, I enjoyed
the feeling of pursing and challenge. They make me realize that there is no
limit on the way of becoming perfect. Therefore, enjoy my rest of campus life
and try my best, hoping I could progress a lot in the 2012.
Happy New Year to every one!
By the way, the firework last night reminded me of my hometown. I miss you, daddy and mommy.
